Soccer: Playing Out Under Pressure

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON*

• Mark out 3 gates in a line with coloured cones. 
• Two goalkeepers working together about 10 yards away from the cones.
• First goalkeeper plays the ball through the cones and shouts a colour
• GK 2 then has to take a touch and play the ball through the coloured gate that has been called.  
• Switch which goalkeeper calls and which plays the ball. 

The keeper covers the near post and stops the shot from the first feeder.

After they've gathered the ball they roll it back and then move quickly around the edge of the coned area to close down the angle on the next shot.

The middle shot is played low by the second feeder and the keeper must react quickly to get down and try to smother/block this second ball.

• Without the ball goalkeeper step into low dive position and get used to landing the dive safely.
• Show technique for landing ball close to the body in low dive
• GK starts behind the cones- Forward round the cones and back for a shot close to body

Note:

• Lower the body position in readiness for the low shot
• Lower the hands and make step with leading foot pointing out at around 45'
• Push of with nearest foot and attack the dive with nearest hand first

• Goalkeeper steps away from cone comes through the gate receives a ball into hands
• Returns to server then gets a low shot into dive close to body
• Get into set position initially then step forward into low dive to save before cones in advance of initial gate

Notes:

• Get the step in if required
• If serve close too the body collapse legs and get hands to the ball in front of the body
• Dive forward this called 'Attacking the dive'
