Soccer: Leave the Ball Behind

This is a great site. The days of scratching practice drills and back...
Andrew

DESCRIPTION

Set up a square roughly 10m x 10m.

Have a few players at each corner.

In 2 of the corners (diagonal) a player starts with a ball. They run clockwise around the square to the next corner. When they reach the corner they put their foot on the ball to stop it so that the player at that corner can take it over immediately.

The ball moves clockwise around the square.

Repeat anticlockwise after each player has dribbled the ball a few times.

COACHING POINTS

  • Stop the ball dead when you go over it
  • Eyes up whilst dribbling
  • Quick foot on the ball and continue running out of the way
  • Bodyweight over the ball when stopping it
  • Next person take it at pace (start a couple of feet back for a run in)
