DESCRIPTION

To encourage the pupil to gain the correct feel for the first move away of the club into the backswing.

Encourage the pupil to place a golf tee or second ball opposite the foot furthest from the target, just inside of the ball to target line (1). The player should be able to brush this object away by keeping the club head generally close to the ground in the first stages of the backswing (2).

Eye Drops:

To encourage the pupil to get into a correct posture for putting and encourage good eye alignment.

Encourage the pupil to set up ready to hit the ball then take a ball and place in between the eyes (1). Drop the ball; it should land near to the player?s golf ball showing the eyes are directly over the line of the ball (2).

Over The Coin:

To encourage the pupil to perceive the intended target line and check clubface alignment

Encourage the pupil to place a coin, a short distance in front of the ball (within the pupils peripheral vision) as an intermediate point between the ball and the target (1). The pupil can use this to check alignment during practice (2). On course the pupil can use a piece of grass or a divot to serve the same purpose.

Island Hopper:

SET-UP:
Place a number of 'islands' on the practice area using hoops, cones etc. Divide players into teams.

ACTIVITY:
The first player in each team attempts to chip the ball from the tee onto the island. If successful the whole team move to that island and the next player in the team then attempts to chip the ball onto the next island.
If a player misses then the next player tries until one member of the team has been successful.
