Football: Top Hand High Save

Improve the goalkeepers ability to deal with high in-swinging shots into the top corners and ensure the correct technique is being used.

• GK advances forward and takes short step over the first cone.
• Server 1 holds the ball as high as possible and out in front with one hand.
• GK then takes a shuffle step towards the ball and knocks the ball off the servers hand with their top hand.
• Alternate between both sides.

• GK starts on knees with server 3 yards away.
• Set up cones slightly wider than where the GK can reach with a dive.
• Server plays the ball above head of the GK and out to either side.
• GK has to use their top hand to tip the ball over or wide.

• GK starts in set position, in the middle of the goal.
• Server 1 rolls the ball along the ground into the corner for the GK to make a low down save. 
• GK returns the ball whilst still on the ground and then gets back to their feet and shuffles across the goal.
• Server 2 use rebound net to give the GK a high save in the opposite corner.

6 players and 2 catchers. Both catchers have a ball each.

Catchers move around the area and attempt to throw their ball to hit one of the players on or below the knee. To do this, catchers must either bounce the ball or head, thigh or volley the ball every 3 paces. The other 6 players try to escape having the ball thrown at them below the knee by running around the area. If a player is caught, he joins the catchers. As only two balls are allowed in the game at one time, they can be passed between catchers.

Catchers cannot move with the ball
