Volley Disc | Throwing Skills

Volley Disc:

  • Create a playing area which has two large areas for each team and a central out-of-bounds area; each team stays in their side.
  • Teams are allowed up to 3 passes between themselves, then must throw the disc into the other area.
  • If the disc is not caught and lands inside the receiving team’s area, award 1pt to the throwing team.

Pass the Pitch | Throwing Skills

Pass the Pitch:

  • Split into groups of 4 and spread out the players evenly across the width of the playing area (for example, 4 players 2m apart from each other forming a line 6m long)
  • Start with all discs on one side of the field. Teams pass the disc along the line to the far side, and back again.
  • The slowest team is eliminated. Keep going until there is a winning team.
  • If a pass is not caught then it must be repeated

Throwing Skills
Hide & Throw | Throwing Skills

Hide & Throw:

  • Form groups of three
  • One player stands in front of the thrower as the "screen"; the thrower then pivots out to the side so they can see the receiver
  • Screens should stand still with arms by their sides
  • Throw the disc.
  • The thrower then runs to the person who caught the disc, stands in front of them to be the "screen".
  • Repeat this process until everyone is comfortable with the reason for pivoting

Give & Go Forehand | Throwing Skills

Give & Go Forehand:

  1. Player 1 and Player 2 start facing the same direction, into the space where the disc will be thrown
  2. Player 2 has the disc
  3. Player 2 turns and throws to Player 1.
  4. Player 2 then runs across in front of Player 1, who throws into space for Player 2 to catch
  5. Aim to throw into the space in front of Player 2
  6. Don’t throw too hard; this is easier to execute if thrown softly
