- When rolling, the player should try make an effort to increase the space between a tight marking defender and the ball
- This is done by moving the ball away from the body and extending the hips
- Perform in the oppostion direction, practice aa reverse turn and strong change of direction (or a v-drag)
Set out two lines of cones in a tight zig-zag formation.
Players take it in turns to run through the cones. The ball travels down the middle while the player uses quick feet to shuffle in and out of the cones, maintaining a forward body position throughout.
Moving with the ball
To improve running with the ball and changing direction players have to run around the cones creating a figure of eight as they go around the centre cone before then running out and around the outer blue cone.
Players must dribble forehand around the middle cone and then reverse the stick around the outside cone.

- 5 yard square
- 3 forwards and 2 defenders
- Forwards must stay on the outside of the square
- Defenders cannot leave the square or tackle the player in possession
- Forwards around the square can move around
- If a defender intercepts the ball, they should swap with the forward who made the pass
Passing & Receiving
Players can use this technique when passing or shooting at goal. Hold the stick with your palms facing upwards and turn the stick so that the flat side of the hook is facing the sky. The back swing should be short and remain close to the ground. Place your weight onto your right foot, with the ball slightly in front. For a pass/ sweep shot ensure you get low and hit the middle of the ball. For a controlled lifted shot players should hit into the back of the ball.

Practice moving the ball with the first touch to escape an imaginary defender and then shoot with the ball in line with the back foot, giving the keeper little time to see the ball, particularly in a crowded circle
Run to the ball and shoot on the turn.Â Also known as utilising the 'backspace' A useful skill for strikers working on getting away from a defender, especially from free hits outside the circle.

The first defender over commits to the forehand side to make the player in possession turn away. The second defender closes down the space so that the player in possession runs the ball onto the defenders stick when turned
Place the ball on the penalty spot. Sit down on both knees (slightly ahead of the ball). Drag the ball from this position into the goal.
