Hockey: Short pass while dribbling

DESCRIPTION

Player 1 is dribbling with the ball and makes a short (wall) pass with player 2 who dribbles on with the ball. As the end players 1 and 2 have switched so player 1 passes to player 2 and then player 2 starts off dribbling and so on.

COACHING POINTS

The wall pass can be one or two touch, and will depend on the relative positions of the players

Run out to receive reverse:

One player starts outside the square with the ball the next player runs out to receive the baqll on the reverse and passes it on the next player comeing out of the square. After the pass it is important that the players return to the square.

Space pass | Passing & Receiving

Space pass:

Player 1 runs square across the pitch with the ball and then passes the ball into the space for the wide man to run onto the ball both sides. Then alternate sides.

Run, pass and sweep | Passing & Receiving

Run, pass and sweep:

This is a pass and follow exercise with 3 different elements that helps players with fast passing - particularly important when trying to score in the opposition's circle.

Player 1 starts to run with the ball and  passes to the player on their left before reaching the 2 cones they are running towards.

The player receiving the ball has to first time sweep the ball to the next player clockwise from them. This player receives the ball and restarts the practice, still going clockwise around the square.

Every player should follow their own pass to the back of the next line of players

run out to receive and pass on:

Players start on small square and run out to the corner of the bigger square to receive the ball.

After having received the ball and having passed it on to the next player the player should return to the middle square.
