Hockey: Chase Ball

Excellent, used the drills at our first training session today with...
Shane, Hockey Coach

DESCRIPTION

Set up two teams of 3, with a ball per team in two interlocking triangles.

One of the teams starts passing the ball. The second team then pass their ball around to try and overtake the ball from team 1.

COACHING POINTS

The distance between your players should be at least 5m.

Allow players the freedom to approach this drill how they see fit initially. On the second try, push 2 touch hockey and see if this improves the pace

PROGRESSION

- Have one team be the dictator, and the other the follower. The ball can be changed direction and the other team must follow suit. Will force players to keep their heads up and communicate with each other
