Fielding

Aim - to encourage lateral movement Work in threes. Start with a ball on every cone. The worker starts at the bucket (middle) and works laterally to each cone to retrieve the ball and bring it back to the middle. see how many retrieved in 30 seconds. once all the balls are in the middle the next worker can try to take each ball back from the middle and place it by the cones.

Post Up and Overlap (2v1)

- Playing a 2 on 1 in a narrow area - Looking to post hard towards the player and turn strong - Player making the initial pass should get ahead of play, looking to receive the ball

- Playing a 2 on 1 in a narrow area - Looking to post hard towards the player and turn over the right shoulder - Player making the initial pass should get ahead of play, looking to receive the ball - Utilise a shimmy pass on the reverseĀ

2 v 1 Defender In The Middle

2 v 1 in a box 2 keep the ball against 1 Players in possession can carry or pass in the space to retain the ball and connect to avoid turning the ball over. Defender looks to intercept or press to tackle the ball. If it is won the defender swaps out of the middle for the player that lost possession.

Use footwork to create space (reverse)

2 v 1 situation using a quick change of pace to eliminate the defender Coaching Points Pass the ball in to the defender and get it back, picking the ball up on the move The attacker takes the ball to right then quickly turns his feet to the left and drags the ball across his body Note the change in pace-this is key to creating the space to get past the defender The attacker without the ball follows the movement of the attacker with the ball
