DESCRIPTION

Ask children to run in and out of the mats. Ask them to run over the mats. Ask children to take tiny steps in and around the mats and then take big bounces over the mats.

COACHING POINTS

As a progression, encourage children to move over the mats and into all ares of the hall.

As a progression, run in and out of mats then take a big step to cross over the mat.

OFTEN USED WITH...

key 0 Skill-work:

Get the children to walk around the hall and then on the teachers command children should go as small as possible. Then get the children to continue running around before stopping and making themselves as big as possible.

Keep repeating the exercises but vary the speed in which the children travel.

key 0 warm-up:

Ask children to carefully move into space on tip toes. On the signal they have to push their hands into the air. The next progression is to get the children to run around quietly then heavily.

Ask the children to go for a walk, no bumping into anyone. As the children walk around get them to touch the floor with either hand.

Encourage the children to move in any direction and ask them to stretch their arms out sideways. Get the children to turn 360 degrees on the spot.

key 0 Cooldown:

Ask the children to walk around the room using tiny steps. Then make the children get slower and slower until they stop. Then ask the children to lie down on the floor - perfectly still and walk round taking an imaginary picture.
