DESCRIPTION

Put the benches away.

Ask the children to walk slowly backwards, looking over their shoulders and not bumping into each other. The children must then stop and lay down - very still.

The teacher will then move around the class and when they touch a child on the head that child must demonstrate their favourite movement of the lesson.

Put the mats away.

Start the practice off by getting the children to go for a run. Then change you voice to speak s-l-o-w-l-y. The children then have to match their movements with the teachers voice.

The next part of the practice is for children to find a partner and join hands and walk around together using tiny steps.

Ask the children to walk around the room using tiny steps. Then make the children get slower and slower until they stop. Then ask the children to lie down on the floor - perfectly still and walk round taking an imaginary picture.

Put the apparatus away.

Ask half the class to observe whilst the other half demonstrate how to travel along the floor on two hands and one foot. Change over.

Put the apparatus away.

Discuss the reasons for a cool down with the children - lower heart rate, avoid injury.

Ask children to travel on their hands and feet in a bouncing way, before stopping and sitting down.

Select a child to be a leader and get the children to follow the leader and teacher to write the letter S. Ask the children what letter did we write ?
