Assisted Straddle Jump

Working in pairs the gymnast stands with arms horizontal. The supporter stands behind with hands on gymnasts hips. The gymnast flexs knees and hips, swings arms inwards and upwards and drives upwards. The supporter lifts the gymnast to help gain height. the gymnast raises legs to horizontal and touches ankles with hands forming a straddle shape. On landing knees and hips flex and arms move to horizontal.

From a short 4m run take off with one foot to land on bench with two feet. Jump to straddle useing good arm swing to promote height. Land flexing knees and hips and bringing arms wide to secure landing

Standing Jump to Straddle

From a standing position on a low platform spring upwards and raise extended legs to horizontal. Bring arms to touch feet forming a straddle shape. Bring arms wide to secure landing.

Straddle Jump from Spring Board

From a short run, hurdle step to take off from spring board with two feet. Form straddle shape during flight. Flex knees and hips on landing.

Straddle Jump from Trampette

Fast approach run up. Eyes focus on trampette Long hurdle step. Arms swing up at this phase of the skill ; then down again as gymnast hits the trampette. Rebound firmly as arms swing upwards to create a stretched long shape. At the top of the flight legs straddle quickly and hands lie along ankles Hip extends to straighten out the body in preparation for landing. Landing, flex hip and knee joints to absorb impact of landing. Recover to stand upright.
