Gymnastics Drill Demonstration

Description

Straddle vault progressions on to low apparatus (low crossways box or bench).

Coaching points

From a half squat, slightly back from the apparatus:

Co-ordinate a straight arm swing towards the apparatus with a spring from 2 feet away.

Shoulder block, take weight briefly on tense, straight arms, then lift arms high.

Straddle legs on to apparatus.

Land in a pike straddle stand.

Straighten into a straddle stand.

Develop by jogging into a hurdle step take-off.
