DESCRIPTION

SET-UP:
Mark out a series of starting points and targets using suitable markers. Allocate a letter for each target usinf chalk or other material. Split the group into teams and send each team to a hitting area. Give each team one putter and each player one ball.

ACTIVITY:
Players take it in turn to putt or chip into the targets. Teams use the letter of each target they hit into to spell out words. the team that makes the most words wins.

COACHING POINTS

CHANGES

Easier: Deacrease the distance from the targets. Increase the time allowed for making the words.

Harder: Increase the distance from the targets. Decrease the time allowed for making words.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Bowls:

SET-UP:
Use either a yellow ball or brightly coloured tee as the 'Jack'
Split the group into teams of 4
Each team needs a putter and 1 ball per player each team needs to mark their balls to tell them apart from the opposition.

ACTIVITY:
Players putt their balls alternately in teams of 4. All balls nearest to the 'jack' scores points for the team. First to 21 is the winner

Step Back:

Starting with cone nearest to the target players attempt to putt the ball into the hole moving onto the next when successful. The winner is the first to hole three in a row.

Treasure Island:

SET-UP:
Mark out one or more courses of 'Islands' using chalk, string, mats, hoops or other suitable markers. Split the group into several teams and send each team to an 'Island'. Give one ball to each member of the group.

ACTIVITY:
Players in each team take it in turn to try and toss the ball so that it lands on, or finishes on an 'Island'. When successful, the team moves to that Island. The first team to get to the end wins.

Tri Golf Warm Up Games

Putting challenge:

Each team is divided into pairs and each pair begins
play on a different hole on the putting course.

Players play alternate shots in their pair until they
have finished their hole (i.e. the ball has been played
from the tee to the hole/hoop).

The number of shots taken is recorded for the hole
before they rotate clockwise on to the next hole.

This is repeated until all pairs have completed all
holes.

The total number of shots taken for each pair is
then recorded on each scorecard.

The total number of shots taken for all pairs is the
total score for the team.

The team with the lowest score of all is the winner.
