DESCRIPTION

To encourage the pupil to monitor the correct path of the stroke

Lay a club shaft on the ground and swing the putter above it (1). The blade should stay on top or slightly inside the shaft during the backstroke (2) and on top and square to the shaft in the forward swing (3).

Spot the Break:

To encourage the pupil use a spot to aim at when ?reading? sloping putts.

Encourage the pupils to imagine the intended line of the putt taking into account the slope of the green and intended speed (1). The pupils should pick a spot on the green at the point that they think the ball will start breaking toward the hole and mark it with a ball marker (2). Pupils can then practice putting towards the marker and monitor the results.

Navigator:

SET-UP:
Place 4 balls approximately a putter?s length from the target/hole at North, South, East and West points.

ACTIVITY:
Each player attempts to hole/hit the target with each ball in turn until all are holed. When all 4 are holed, place balls a putters length and a grip length from the hole and so on. Team players can start at each point and move round clockwise.

Eye Drops:

To encourage the pupil to get into a correct posture for putting and encourage good eye alignment.

Encourage the pupil to set up ready to hit the ball then take a ball and place in between the eyes (1). Drop the ball; it should land near to the players golf ball showing the eyes are directly over the line of the ball (2).
