Netball: Pass and Move

DESCRIPTION

Groups of 6 with one ball per group.

Player 6 starts with the ball, with player 5 starting to move in to receive the ball before passing the ball onto player 1. Player 5 goes behind player 1. Player 1 then passes the ball to player 6 who has made a run to receive the ball.

Progression -Having fed out, the player defends the next pass i.e Player 5 passes to player 1 and then defends the pass from player 1 to player 6.

Pass and Move - Box:

The red players around the outside square have a ball each and move anti-clockwise around the box.
Red players must make a pass inside to the blue players when they are on a corner and receive the return pass when they reach the half way point down the line.
They then play another one-two pass receiving the return pass on the corner of the square.

Passing

Interception - group activity:

Red 2 has the ball and red 1 starts in the opposite corner

Blue 1 runs forward and Red 2 passes a diagonal pass to Blue 1

Red 1 moves on a diagonal to intercept the pass

Following the interception red 1 feeds a straight pass onto Blue 2

Red 2 then runs straight to receive a diagonal pass from Blue 2 and Blue 1 moves across to intercept this pass.

Interception

Passing diagonally then straight - Overhead and Chest Pass:

Have two lines of players both stood behind a cone on the edge of the first third.

The red player starts with the ball. The blue player sprints to the cone on the baseline and receives the diagonal overhead pass from the red player.

Once they have received the ball the blue player then passes the ball to the next player in their team before sprinting the back of their line.

The drill repeats the other way round (blue passing to red). Drill continues in this way.

Passing

Gladiators:

This drill works best with the full squad (10+ players).

One feeder stands at the side of each third of the court (white in the diagram). These players are on the same side as the attacker (red 1 in the diagram).

There are 2 defenders in each third (blue in the diagram).

Using just half the width of the court, Red 1 has to work their way down the court receiving three passes from the player at the side of the court, in each third.
