The player who starts with the ball has to dribble around the cone and then try to score a goal on the half way line.

At the same time one player from the defending pair also runs around the cone. Once the player with the ball has run around the cone the drill is live.

The defending team are trying to dispossess the player with the ball and score against the keeper and the last defender.

The drill continues until one of the team has had a shot at one of the goals.

    COACHING POINTS

The second defenders must stand behind their respective lines (the shooting circle and the 25 yard line) and can only leave this area to support their team-mate in the attack.

The key to this practice is improving the reaction of the player who loses the ball. They need to chase back immediately after losing the ball to help their partner.

    Junior Goal Scoring Skills Session

In the goal scoring session we get your players to switch the ball, slap, shoot and score! To make things simple, for you and your players, we've split this shooting skills into three easy to coach sections:

    • 1. Skill Development,
    • 2. Game Related Practices and
    • 3. Match-Shooting!

By recapping some of the simple skills, such as receiving the ball on the move and distributing the ball on players' first touch using the slap hit, your players will be able to switch the ball faster and create more shooting opportunities - especially when trying to score the perfect goal.

    COACHING POINTS
    • Important that the defender does not spoil the practice.

Outletting is when players release the ball from the back, sending it up the field to players in the midfield or attack. This form of fast movement is ideal for catching your opposition on the back foot and creating goal scoring opportunities.

A lot of the best teams score their goals on the break, capitalising on the fact that the opposition are out of position, by using early ball distribution to the wingmen, speedy passing and fast running to quickly turn defence into attack!

    COACHING POINTS
    • Defending player should avoid getting too close to the player attacking the circle. To avoid the player chuck and running the ball in the circle.

The next group start from player 3, pass to 2 and player 1 makes the space for the ball to be passed to player 5 in the space.

    COACHING POINTS
