Hi everyone, coaching under 9s this year and I am trying to clarify if the rules have changed for the coming season i.e no ruck, mauls, scrums or lineouts basically a bit more like Rugby League? I know it was trailed last year in certain areas and think itâs be rolled out nationally but obviously want to make sure. Cheers
Check with your county. I know Surrey and Middlesex are not introducing until Sept 2013.

Not sure links can be posted. In which case navigate:

It depends on what region your in. I'm in the NLD (Notts, Lincs, Derby's) and we are trialling these new rules for the coming season, starting with the U7, 8 & 9 age groups. I would think that if you haven't been notified already (by your CCC or similar) then the chances are you aren't using the new rules yet, either way, if your in any doubt i would speak to your CCC or consult your regional body.
HI Alex
I have been coaching my youngest son since U6, we're now going into U9. Most of the County antennas of the RFU (Herts, Beds, Cambs,...) have held a vote with the county clubs to establish who would be happy to move to the new rules called 'Shaping the game' that you can find on the RFU main site : http://www.rfu.com/managingrugby/shapingthegame"
in more ways than one
Possession without purpose is pointless. These drills combine ball retention with physical conditioning to create teams that dominate and outlast opponents.
Teams have just 6 seconds to exploit a turnover before defences reorganise. Learn how to train your players to attack with speed and purpose.
The U10 age group is the golden window for developing ball mastery. Miss it, and you're playing catch-up forever. Here's how to get it right.
