This session highlights of using the correct footwork when executing a backhand, and developing your player?s tactical understanding. By improving this area of the game, your players will choose the most effective movement in the right situation. The backhand down the line can be the Hollywood blockbuster shot if hit correctly and can also catch your opponent off guard. Have your players get the edge in matches, and dancing around the court to victory!
What?s in the Session?
Start off with a simple rally with a difference - by getting your player to run around a cone as soon as they?ve hit the ball, they?ll need to recover in time to receive the next ball! Work on different stances and focus particularly on the bending of the knees, so your players can hit the ball quicker and powerfully. Continue through different drills to focus on positioning when hitting the groundstroke, then finish off by working on their agility and coordination.
Tennis demands a unique combination of endurance, power, agility, and flexibility. Physical preparation determines how long careers last and how players perform when it matters most.
Ecological dynamics is transforming tennis coaching. This constraints-led approach develops adaptable, creative players who can solve problems in competition, not just execute drilled patterns.
The one-handed backhand is becoming rare, but when executed well, it remains one of tennis's most elegant and effective shots. Is it a dying art or a tactical advantage?
