Community | Protecting your feet defensively and move in for the tackle

Catherine van Eyk Coach, South Africa

DESCRIPTION

The exercise starts with the defender passing the pall to the attackers (so that the attacker practices receiving the ball in a dynamic way, either on the move or open body position). Attacker start to make their way to the D to shoot at goal. Defender must close them down quickly with stick in front of them, protecting their feet and positioning their body in such a way that they start to channel the attacker away from the top of the D. Once in the correct position, go for the tackle (the stick is in the correct position for a jab). Depending on who wins the 1vs1, push ups for the loser.
