DRILL TYPE: Ball and Racquet
A fun relay race for children to develop their ball and racket skills.
1. Players form a straight line between baseline to the net ( see diagram) with a bucket of balls behind the baseline.
2. First player puts a ball on their racket and passes it to the racket of the next player in line without handling the ball.
3. The last player in line at the net, flips the ball over the net and runs to the baseline to get a ball.
4. This player starts the next ball as every player moves up one position towards the net.
5. Repeat this until all balls are over the net.
6. First team seated in line wins.
Progression:
1. Game is over when all players return to starting positions.
2. Hit forehand, backhand, or serve when at the net.
Tips:
1. Develops wrist and arm strength.
2. Racket and ball control.
3. Balance ball on the racket.
Safety:
1. Ensure players are well spread out.
2. Use only 2 rackets.
