Jail Break ( Group )

DRILL TYPE: Group Games FOCUS: Racquet Skills EQUIPMENT: (1) Youth Racquet ( Red/ Orange or Foam Balls) SETUP: The coach is on opposite side of the net with a basket of balls and at an angle. The players are on the other side of the net in a line behind the baseline. MISSION: Players line up behind the baseline and the coach underhand feeds to the first player that is up at the service line in turn. If they hit the ball over or in, they are safe and returns to the line. If they make an error they go to Jail, on the other side of the net. To get out of jail, and rejoin the line, they must catch an incoming ball before it bounce twice. The player whose shot was caught goes to jail. The game is won if the last player is left in line, hits the ball that’s is not caught. But, if the last player makes an error, there is a JAIL BREAK” an all the players are back in line. PROGRESSION: Very the strokes fed in. Very the hitters distance from the net. After the number of bounces allowed for the catchers to accommodate lower players. TIPS: Younger players need to be reminded to look at the ball and spread out when they are in jail. While this is a fun game, still ensure good technique from the hitters. SAFETY: Ensure players are well spread out.
