DESCRIPTION

A 1v1 drill to work on quickly attacking the goal with back/side pressure from the recovering defender.

4 balls (best to have one per player)

2 nets or scoring zones marked using cones

Progressions

  • Switch the nets so pressure comes from the other side of the player
  • Require a minimum distance to shoot force a longer recovery

COACHING POINTS

Attacker

  • Quickly move to score
  • Get the ball out from their feet to let them move more quickly
  • Put their body between the ball and defender

Defender

  • Must immediately recover
  • Look to get goal side of the attacker
  • Once in front jockey and force them away from the net.
