I use this to teach taking high balls. Most Goalkeepers are very aggressive which is what you want. However, their aggressiveness sometimes causes them to overrun a high, floated ball. This game forces them to take a beat before taking off by making their first step back and around the cone while keeping their eyes on the ball.
1) Proper starting position. Sideon about one step off the goalline and 2 big steps off the far post. We do not want to get caught moving backwards on our heels try to get to a far post ball.
2) For purposes of this game - First step when service coming from your left should be your right foot. When service from your right then first step is with your left foot.
3) Keep your eyes on the ball and keep the ball in front of you.
4) Take the ball as high and early as possible.
