Leader ball is a passing game which ca be adapted for numerous sports including netball, basketball and soccer and can be used to cater for a large number of players. Players are assembled as shown in the diagram (use multiple sets for large groups).
The player standing in front of the line is the "leader." The "leader" begins the game by passing the ball along the ground to th first player in the line who will return the ball by kicking it back to the leader. The leader will then pass and recieve the ball from each player along the line until the ball reaches the final player. Once the last player has recieved the ball, he/she will dribble the ball to the leader position with the previous leader moving to the beginning of the line and every other player moving down the line.
The drill ends when the original leader returns to the leader position.
Ball should be struck on the inside of the foot with adequate force to reach the intended target. Coach should be constantly reminding players of the key coaching points, in this case striking the ball correctly, foot following through, keeping communication between players up.
Create a resolution to develop your coaching confidence by seizing the opportunity to discover new drills, turn ideas into action and seek advice from the coaching community.
World Rugby has reportedly conceded Aaron Smith's disallowed try in the World Cup final should have stood.
