Player to perform bounding drills, starting from a standing start players to leap and bound (take off two feet) and bound with alternate legs to end cone. Starting with a shorter stride length than end progression.
Starting with a bound and hold.
Then moving onto a stride length decided by the player which is bigger for the 15m drill.
Standing start - Alternate leg bounding (short distances)
Single leg bounding - both sides
R-R-L-L-R-R-L-L until end.
Two step run up same drill
Progressions - Move through the stages until able to perform a run up and bound. Increasing stride length.
Regressions- bound onto two feet, regress stages, decreases stride length.
Rationale: Short ground contact. Stretch shortening cycle and elastic energy production and use, increase elastic energy for unpredicted gameplay to ensure that the hamstring can cope with reaction. (Komi 2008)
