Under 9s Arrival Activity - Dribbling
Pitch / area (size dependant on numbers) is split into two zones
Players split into two teams (Yellow/red bibs)
Each team occupies a zone
Initially players remain in their own zone - warm-up dribbling exercise, each player has a ball and moves freely around the zone with the ball
Upon shout of colour "Blue/orange/green" - players must quickly dribble ball into that coloured square (within their own zone)
Points award for fastest team entering the square.
Progression
Players leave their own zone and enter opponents zone dribbling into the relevant square (Alternating each time)
Limit the number of players permitted to enter each square
General dribbling
Encourage use of different parts of the foot
Ensure players are using both feet
Challenge players to demonstrate skills - turns / step-overs / faints etc..
Players to keep ball under close control
Ensure good observation / listening - avoid other players
Challenge players to move at speed with the ball.
