Corner Routine 1 - Direct Left Sketch

Very good interactive coaching drills.
Matt

DESCRIPTION

  • Player 1 will cross the ball directly into the box from the corner.
  • Player 2 and 4 will make runs and attack the ball.
  • Player 3 will hold a position just outside the box for any loose balls to shoot directly from outside the box.
  • Player 5 will disrupt the keepers run and attack any ball that comes into his direction.

INDICATION:

Player 1 (Corner Taker) will indicate that he will be taking this corner by raising his Left Arm Once.

This will let his team mates know what intends to do.

COACHING POINTS

  • Coaches to help the players understand their roles and how the drill works.
  • Make sure that the players are focused and are making their own decisions and adapting to what is going on around them.
  • Ask the players individually at random what they have been tasked to do and if they understand the role.
  • If the move fails can they adapt and find a solution to the problem.

Coaches are to be vocal in the drill initially to get them carrying out the drill in a quick manner. When the players start to understand the drill, withdraw yourself and let them carry it out themselves only intervening when you identify a mistake.
