Maintaining Compactness - In the 'Out of Possession moment'

DESCRIPTION

Purpose of excersise:
To improve our ability of being able to Maintain compactness in the out of possesion moment, in order to set our press and limit the space in behind us, to ensure we are hard to break down.

Two teams, Yellow vs Blue, 11 v 11(including GK's)

Phase of play starts with the coach who will play into a Yellow player, Blue team go live as soon as the Yellow player touches the ball. On the coache's whistle the Blue team must drop off and get their shape behind the ball. The Yellow team must attempt to penetrate the Blue team (through or over).

During the time in which the Blue team are remaining compact they must try and make the right decision of when to commit to the press and lock the Yellow team in to areas where they have no options. This orchestrating a counter attack opportunity in which a Blue player can win the ball and release the front 3.
