Description:
Players position themselves in a circle surrounded by a number of players and look to intercept the ball. The players on the outside look to maintain the ball through speed of pass, intelligence and body positioning. The players on the outside play two touch, one touch if they can. The players on the outside need to make ten passes meaning ten press ups for players in the middle
The players on the inside should press the pass not the player. They need to be intelligent during the pressing action.
Question: Why is it better to press the player about to receive the ball?
Answer: The receiving player is more likely to make a poor decision under the pressure
The players in the middle must hold bibs and when they win the ball make the transition as quickly as possible. They can throw there bibs to the floor or at the player its not there issue anymore but as long as its all done at speed. It’s the player who made the pass and player who lost the ball who come into the middle. This should represent the mentality change required in a match; going from a defensive mentality to an attacking one.
The player on the outside should play the ball short when the players in the middle are further away and long when there close.
Question: Why is this?
Answer: To relieve pressure as well as making the man in the middle work that bit harder
