Passing Drill #1

DESCRIPTION

Warm up passing exercise for 7/8 players working on accuracy of the pass, timing of the run and pass and the speed of the pass. The speed of the pass should be enough to potentially by-pass an opponent, but soft enough for your teammate to receive the pass. 

Players should call for the ball at the correct time and correct place. The timing of the run should be accurate so there are no delays in the passing and the drill runs smoothly. 

COACHING POINTS

  • First Pass is short, the player will play the first 1-2 with the player facing them
  • They will come and meet the ball and play a longer pass
  • The player will overlap the player initially facing them and play another 1-2
  • The player will join the cone were he played the longer pass. 
  • Repeat
  • Start with 2 touches and progress to 1 touch.
