DESCRIPTION

Mark Ludwigs game – 3 v 2 transition

One goal on goalline and one at midfield with keepers. Set defenders clearing goal at midway point on either side. This is so if the defenders win the ball they have somewhere to play the ball.

Mark does not divide them into teams. He puts groups behind each goal plus the strikers to the right and left of the halfway mark on the sideline.

Start with distribution from a keeper to the first group of 2 coming out from either goal. There should be 2 defending the other goal.  The attackers should use one striker from their right side who comes into play. Now we have 3 vs 2 attacking to get a shot quickly.

If no shot then the attackers drop off and do 5/5/5 as punishment. If shot on goal then attackers drop off with no punishment.  Keeper immediately serves a ball to defenders and a new attacker from their right comes on field and 2 new defenders come on to oppose them at opposite goal.

CP’s  - No north and south runs – weave at a minimum – communicate.

Work for a 2 v1 against the defenders. This is usually done with overlaps or diagonal runs in behind. Try to isolate the one defender.

We primarily will be working for the attacker coming on the field to ck to ball and play back in. Everyone working to get ahead of the ball.
