Switching the Point of Attack

Very good interactive coaching drills.
Matt

DESCRIPTION

Make groups of 4 players. Each group will have a player on the center cone, a player on the right and 2 players on the left cone.

Center player CD starts with the ball and pass the ball to the right, get it back then passes it to the left. After a complete switch of the point of attack CD swap positions with LD and goes behind the line.

COACHING POINTS

CD should be behind the line of the ball in order to see both sides and create a "banana shape". When receiving the ball, CD should use the far foot opening his/her hips to guide the ball to the opposite side facilitating a pass with the opposite foot. Flank players should increase width of the field when the ball is coming to his/her direction/side and narrow it when the ball is leaving towards the other side.

Progression:

  1. Flank players receive the ball forward and turn at the next cone.
  2. CD can be challenged with different techiniques to receive and turn.
