DESCRIPTION

There are four options out of Blue call

  1. Default is call of Power; the king looks to carry 
  2. Call of TIP; the king passes to the jack on his outside getting carry wider
  3. Call of INSIDE; the king passes back inside to the Queen
  4. Call is BOOT; Jack runs early and No.10 (or other back) starts run behind to open. King hits the No.10 behind jack and he attacks open. Has option of running if gap or hitting either 12 or 13 

COACHING POINTS

  • Good clear early calls needed so every one on same page
  • trick is not to get caught up thinking too complicated as basically either a forward carries or you play out the back
  • Outside backs should be ready at all times for Boot call so can stike when room presented
  • Key that decisions are made based on what you see in front of you
  • Centres need to help with calling by feeding messages in to No.10 when it is on to go wide
