DESCRIPTION

Chip or Grubber Part 2

An exercise to assist players in making the decision to try and chip over a defence or put in a grubber kick to get past a statci defensive line.

The player with the ball runs towards the defence and either chips or puts a grubber through to chase onto the ball to score for the try.  To vary this add in a second attacker so that the kick could be for either to chase.  The defence should also chase back to gain possesion and neutralise the attacking threat.

COACHING POINTS

This encourages decision making by the players in both attck and defence.  In Defence, should they split to cover the kick or rush Defence to put the ball carrier under pressure.  The Defence should aslo be taught how to fall on the ball to secure it.
