Rugby Drill Demonstration

4 attackers v 2 defenders. 4 players stand in the middle of the pitch red facing red, blue facing blue. The attackers start with the ball and advance to score. Red can only be tackled by red and blue by blue. The 2 yellow bibs are on the wings and are uncontested. The object of the game is to score a try. The red and blue players only pass when tagged. When a try is scored the 2 wingers come into the middle of the are and either red or blue players become wingers.

Coaching points

Attackers try and score by beating their opposite man or getting the ball out wide to the wingers to score.

Attackers should have fast feet and look to beat the man before passing. Support players should be on the shoulder, hands ready for a pass from the ball holder. Defenders defend in a line looking to tag and then get back in defence.
