Wes, Rugby Coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Coach shouts out two (or even one) number(s) out.
  • SH passes the ball and the attackers advance on to the ball but still holding their depth.
  • As this happens, the defenders advance in their group of twos.
  • Attackers need good hand, communication and vision to beat the defenders.

COACHING POINTS

  • Allow attacking player to be creative.
  • Defenders shouldn't wait for each other, unless their directly oppersite each other (eg - 1,2 and 3,4)
  • SH doesn't join in the attack, he stays where he is.
  • Attacking players should hold their depth.
  • Defenders should work on their defensive work.
  • Both attackers and defenders should use good communication.
  • If they're struggling with 2 player coming from each cone, change it to 1.
  • Allow the attackers to have enough space to pass it out.
  • Attackers should be done in groups of players who are likely to play next / near each other (eg - the back line)
