DESCRIPTION

• Pitch marked out with two alternatively coloured cones on either corner

• Game starts (can restart from this too especially if ball goes out) from a line out. Defending side simply lift jumper who at this stage doesn't compete

• Attacking side 5x forwards – One line out 'pod' comprising two lifters and a jumper. Hooker (to throw ball in) and extra man at the front.

• Defending side 3 x forwards – One line out 'pod' (as above) also one extra utility/cover player.

Phase 1 – Game begins with hooker throwing the ball to the pod. Jumper aims to simply guide or drop the ball into the path of peeling player who is supported by the hooker. Defending utility player challenges the first ball carrier. Ball carrier aims to get over the gain line and time the pass to looping hooker.

Phase 2 – Line out players follow round and work together to draw in looping defenders. Either player who initially (peeled and) took the ball from the line out or hooker secures ball as quickly as possible. Remaining player realigns to provide support for the following phase.

Phase 3 – Once ball is secured player times pass to overlap player to score on the closest alternate coloured cone. This is the perfect result.

• Simple drop/guide to peel player

• Timing of run

• Cross the gain line as quickly as possible

• Timing of pass to looping player

• Fix defenders to create space
