DESCRIPTION

  • Set up 4 lines of cones about 3-4m apart, each line should be 4 cones 8-10m apart
  • Start with 2 lines of 4 player on the middle 2 lines of cones
  • Give 4 balls to alternating sides of the tunnel
  • On the whistle have a player run through the tunnel catching a pass and then passing the ball to the other side and then catching the next ball and so on

COACHING POINTS

  • Make sure then is no stopping or slowing down in the tunnel. All catches and passes need to be made at full tilt to make it as game like as possible.
  • Make sure the passers on the side pass in front of the runner to make him come onto the ball
  • Make sure hands are up early and reaching in the direction the ball is coming from.
  • Make sure the pass is across the body in 1 motion starting with the head to sight the receiver

Progression

  • Have the player on 1 side move out to the outside line of cones to increase the distance between passes
  • Have the player on both side move out to the outside line of cones to max the distance between passes
  • Any scrum halves came pass off the ground
