2 Touch Rugby, Kick focus

Your tips and session ideas have really brought some interest back...
Eifion, Rugby Coach

DESCRIPTION

3 team rotation, each team plays for 90s

Attacking team has 2 touches to score. After 2nd touch, the ball must be kicked to the opposition

A must put 3 in to each breakdown (ball carrier plus 2), D put 2 on belly to each breakdown

If ball kicked and bounces in to touch, opposition play from where ball went out. If ball out on the full, opposition play from where ball was kicked.

COACHING POINTS

Emphasis on getting a good kick chase in place based on set up learnt in previous practise

- 2 Fast Chase

- Hinge

- Green Wall

Try and make the kick competitive, so that we have a chance for our FC to put pressure on the catcher and hopefully touch him as early as possible and deep in his territory. Therefore, we are looking for a high kick with hang time.

FC try and shepard the catcher towards the side line and away from support.
