This game is a striking/fielding and continuous running game. This game also involves the students thinking about strategy whilst playing.
1. Field is set up similar to softball, except there are cricket stumps to bat from and the field includes a safety zone for the batting team to reach and an exclusion zone where the fielding team is not permitted to stand.
2. A soft pink ball is pitched by the pitcher to the batter who is batting in front of the stumps and is using a plastic cricket bat to strike the ball. Batter can either hit the ball or just decide to run.
3. This is a continuous running game and therefore batters must run around all bases and make their way to the safety zone without being hit below the waist by the fielding team.
4. Next batters continue to either strike at the ball if it is at the pitcher or just decide to run by touching the bat. (Players need to make a decision that is best for their team).
5. This is a continuous running game and each team bats for a time frame (for example 6 minutes) and try and get as many players through the saftey zone as possible in the time allowed.
6. Players can get out by being bowled at the stumps, caught on the full or being hit with the ball below the waist by the fielding team. NB: The fielding team cannot run with the ball, it must be passed to players to throw at the opposition team.
7. Team with the highest number of runs is the winning team.
