Simulating a centre pass, defenders will try to intercept the ball from behind/at the side of their attacking opponent using reverse hand interception.
Reverse hand interception - get defenders to keep hands at sides and only put hand in front of attacker momentarily in attempt to receive the ball.
Tactics - GD and WD may wish to push the two attackers into the centre court channel (not shown in the diagram) or they may wish to push the attackers out to the outside channels (on diagram) depending on the decisions and competencies of their opponents. If attempt to intercept by reverse hand is unsuccessful, stage 2 or 3 defence would then be required to close down the next pass or space respectively.
