DESCRIPTION

In groups of 4 with ball; feeders, attacker and defender

  • Feeders standing lateral to one another, Feeder 1 with ball, attacker is static (post), defence angles ball side
  • F 1 drops ball for defender to race onto. Secures ball, and clean pass to F2
  • Defender recovers back to post as quick as possible, gets feet around the back of the post
  • Post is static, but can change up body angle
  • F2 lifts ball to the ‘uncontested’ space.
  • Defender running feet right around to try for that lifted pass
  • Switch around
  • Repeat on the other side
  • As above only this time as defender comes around the back of them, attacker moves straight line forward
  • Defender is looking to get ahead to take ball (straight line, don’t cross into attacker’s space)
  • Switch around
  • Repeat on other side

COACHING POINTS

  • Feet under body
  • Eyes always on the ball
  • Fast and running (not sidestepping) around the back of your attacking post
  • Hip through to penetrate
  • Always in balanced position
  • Upward jump with hands in air
