Goal:
straight HARD pushing, focus on:
- grip
- ball back foot
- big lunge forward
Exercise A
* all players on one backline with 1 ball. Make sure they have some space between them.
* on your command they push ball as hard as they can towards end line B.
* on your command they can run to their ball and from that position give another push etc.
* At end line B they wait. They count the amount of pushes= record.
* give feedback to push harder.
* back the same game, see if they can break there record.
* FINISH with a GAME: we have 3 attempts. PP who wins is the one who has the less pushes to get ball from back line to back line.
Exercise B (hard push from run)
* see picture, 3 or 4 players.
* within 3 steps they need to push to other players and then run after pass.
NB if pushes are hard and within 3 steps, then challenge them by standing further apart.
* FINISH with GAME: which group is first in doing 10 passes
Goal push pass : surprise opponent with a pass, because looks like you are dribbling since your feet stay forward while pushing
The skill :
* Double V grip, hands apart
* Player runs past the ball, to get ball close to line of their back (right foot).
* Player big lunge forward, ball stays in contact with stick as they push forward.
NB no sound involved in this pass and the follow through of stick is low and around body. No push pull from hands to make speed.
