Forward movements after a flank ball.

I love using Sportplan. It's been a great help for co-ordinating hockey...
Laura, Hockey Coach

DESCRIPTION

Here the players start by passing a ball to the side (flank) where the central forward will come and collect the ball. They will then pass along the line to the right forward. Next, this player will drive along the baseline and pass to the last forward who ran an 'in and out' to collect the ball. It is very important that there are no big movements when scoring. If they are not certain a one-touch will be a goal they should receive it and travel with the ball until it is certain they will score.

Rotation is shown in the diagram, between cones everyone should be jogging.

  • Every running action should be as late as possible, nobody should be waiting for the ball.
  • In the circle low body position and pay attention to where the attacker wants the ball.
