Zig Zag and Back (Dribbling)

Great site. An absolute must for coaches who are willing to change...
Ignatius

DESCRIPTION

A simple yet effective exercise for dribbling posture, agility, and peripheral vision. Players dribble in a zig-zag (ball and feet around the cones), then back down the middle before having a shot at goal. The next player in line can go as the player in front goes past the first cone (5-7m distance).

If a player is overtaken or has a collision, they must do a forfeit after their shot before joining again.

COACHING POINTS

Low and strong body position. Keep the ball ahead of you at all times, making lateral adjustments rather than stopping completely to avoid collision.

The progression of this drill can be the zig-zag and back passing version - just swap half of the yellow and red cones around.
