· Possession space
- Square with or behind the ball carrier
- Easy to make passes and keep possession as not marked/closed tightly
· Advantage space
- Forward space between the ball carrier and first line of defenders
- Harder to keep possession as space is more tightly marked and closed
· Dangerous space
- Space behind the first line of defenders
- Hardest to keep possession as this space is closed with many numbers and marked tightly
- Passes into this space have high risk of being intercepted but if penetrated breaks the advantage line and forces the press to collapse.
