- either hands together or apart (normally together)
- situations - shooting on goal from a short distance away or to add diguise to a pass
- shouldn't require the ball being stopped & controlled once received, just pass
- practice 10-25m apart
- eyes on the ball, focus on the ball as it approaches
- grip the stick with both hands together at top of stick
- low body position & hands - stick taken horizontally along the ground, large circular action/arc
- correct footwork enables player to maintain low body positon without losing balance, too upright - lack of power as smaller arc of stick movement/less contact area
- feet - sideways, step to meet ball, knees bent
- ball - start from just in front of/level with players left foot about a hockey stick length away
- contact - on shaft of stick, a few inches below the head of stick
- follow through - point stick in direction of ball
