1vs1 Receiving under pressure - Technical Practice

Very good interactive coaching drills.

DESCRIPTION

Technical practice working on techniques that can be used from being pressured by a DF from behind.

One player with ball on cone, other players without ball on opposite cone.

PLayers without ball pull off at an angle, and receive ball and get turned with different techniques.

  1. half turn back foot
  2. inside hook spin-off
  3. outside hook spin-off
  4. no tiuch turn
  5. scholes turn
  6. drag behind

Progression

  • Player behind receiving player becomes a DF, and applies pressure from behind
  • Begin with passive pressure
  • Progress to full on pressure to a target or goal behind.
  • Players rotate roles.

COACHING POINTS

Technical apsects of each turn.

Talk about the importance of each one, and how they can be used in a game. 

Pulling off at an angle and a bit of movement before you receive. Why?How? When?

Where to play the ball - pressure dependent. Safe side, to back foot.

Disguise before you receive - fake before you receive to try and fool to the DF.

Even though it is a technical practice, talk about the tactical application within a game.
