In possession

  • Partnership with wingers
  • Partnership with centre backs
  • Simple passing game up line to winger or into centre mids
  • Recycle through centre backs or keeper
  • Support winger when ball on your side pushing up behind to be option or make overlapping run to overload
  • If centre back or other wingback pushes up, tuck in to form 3 defensive line
  • Can we counter quickly
  • Corners : front post

Out of possession

  • Mark and press quickly in wider positions to stop attacks
  • Shephard wide attackers out to wings
  • Track runners
  • React on transition
  • Cut off passes to reduce size of opposition playing space
  • Squeeze in to centre to increase compactness and give cover to centre backs
  • Pull centre back over to provide cover if overloaded
  • Stop long ball passes
  • Shot stopping
  • Watch back line for offside trap
